I‘m still not comfortable with spiders but I find them sort of fascinating. You learn to live with them once you were in Australia.

We used to have a few ‘garden orb weaving‘ spiders in Sydney. I have the habit of teasing animals and so I wanted to trick one of those weird crawlies by throwing a little stick in its web.

I reckon spiders look worst when they move their legs. When they dextrously abseiling down a cobweb right in front of your face. Or when they rush over the neat web to their prey.

So the little stick landed in the web and within a few seconds the spider is there checking what‘s tonight‘s dinner. It wraps the stick just like a fly. And then takes a little bite (at least that‘s what it looks like). I thought I‘d successfully tricked a big fat spider but no... It cuts out the stick and leaves a hole in its web. Then the spider is back in the centre. Motionless. Waiting for the ‘real deal‘.

Apparently that spiderman couldn‘t live with a damaged cobweb – it was mended on the next day.

I remember that day pretty well. I‘ve just met this friend for the first time in my life. He seemed to be a little embarrassed about the smell in his car, which by the way I didn‘t smell at all! His reaction: first a bit shocked but then a funny „Aaahhh! That‘s how you play it! Good to know!“ which cleared the air.

Now that I live in Vienna I‘ve come across a lot of art (not only at uni where I‘m studying Art History); as in buildings, statues, cladding, painting, etc

I‘ve learned to love especially the style of Art Nouveau or ‘Jugendstil‘. Here are just a few examples:

Dressed for winter

I prefer hot weather. The only place I like it cold is in my room when I‘m curling up in my warm and cosy bed. So I try to wear summer clothes as long as possible. Usually I almost freeze to death before I eventually get out my winter clothes. But it seems I just can‘t get it right.

Either I‘m not wearing enough or I‘m wearing too much.

Either I‘m freezing or I‘m melting away like a snowman in summer.

See... if I lived in a hot country – preferably Australia of course – I wouldn‘t have to deal with such problems.

There is this ,glass shelf‘. The thing with glass is – as we all know – you can see through it. But since my toiletries are in there I don‘t really want everybody to see them. So I made some sort of a ,cover‘.

It‘s not exactly perfect or especially beautiful but it makes people smile as soon as they enter my little kingdom. :)

When I first started the comics I didn‘t intend to create a character that represents me. That‘s why you won‘t find a tattoo on the left arm, also I‘m unlikely to wear a skirt (just because I find pants more comfortable. I do own skirts, just for the record :) ), etc.

Since the stories I‘m telling with the comics are in fact my own – and therefore somehow represent me (more or less) – I kind of feel obligated to change that attribute that 'her' and I have in common >> (long) hair.

Since I started studying in Vienna I sooner or later had to move to this beautiful capital city of ours. It was quite a story how I actually got a room at the student housing (which I‘m really grateful for!).

In the first 2 weeks I wouldn‘t go outside just because I now have my own room!! Nothing would make me leave my own new home. ::muahaha::

Last week I got to know some new people. Of course we first did some small talk like „what do you do?“, „where do you live/where are you from?“, „what do you study?“, etc not forgetting one of the most important questions (as it seems) „How old are you?“.

„21“ I said. When after about 1 minute later it began to dawn on me. 22 sounded so wrong but I remembered having my 21 birthday in Australia – which was more than 1 year ago. Therefor I must be 22.

„Hold on...“ – „What‘s the matter?“ – „I‘m not quite sure how old I am... Should be 22, but that doesn‘t sound familiar...“ – „When were you born?“ – „September 1989“

You could see all 5 of us calculating when my friends confirmed: „Yeah... you are 22.“

Even more awkward was that I just turned 22 about 2 weeks before this happened...

I‘m some sort of a tea fanatic. Well... fanatic is probably exaggerated. Let‘s put it this way: I can‘t resist a good cup of tea (preferred Green Tea with Jasmine, followed by Earl Grey or Lady Grey black tea) and I dislike coffee.

Occasionally my mum buys some tea for me – especially when it‘s got a funny name, like this one: „Weißer Drachentee“ (=White Dragon Tea).

In fact it does taste good, just not if you steep it too long – as I found out just the other day...

I dream a lot.

Basically my dreams work like this:

It‘s like putting the things I see, hear and experience during the day in a totally new order which usually ends up in being a rather adventurous story.

So normally I can tell you exactly why I dream what I dream for it most likely has crossed my mind in the past few days.

But there is one thing that comes up in a lot of dreams and I can‘t quite understand why: one of my friends seems to appear fairly regularly in my dreams – and that even without seeing him.

Sort of gives me the creeps sometimes...

btw: I can fly in about 70 % of my dreams. True story...

Here‘s what happened just a while ago:

Two friends of mine got married. So the girls threw a hen party and the boys a stag party (or whatever you call it). We decided to meet the boys later at night to have a beer together. That‘s when I met that one friend again. We had quite something to talk about for we hadn‘t seen each other for a while. When our friends saw us chatting they found we were a ‘really cute‘ couple.

Just thinking about it makes it feel wrong. So - NO WAY!

No matter where I am or what I eat – I‘m usually the last one to finish. And that is simply because I eat slowly.

I can‘t really cook so I consider everything as ,delicious‘, which means I basically enjoy everything – slowly. And pretty often people assume I don‘t like the meal when in fact I do. But just s-l-o-w-l-y.

Some of my friends have been going to the CRN (Christmas Rock Night; Köln, Germany) for the last few years. I guess one of the most exciting things is acutally seeing the bands face to face after their performance. You can even talk to them :)

So there was this friend of mine who bought a record from Disciple and ran into the lead singer, Kevin Young.

No kidding, the conversation as shown in the comic really happened! (To get the right 'feeling': imagine my friend had a REALLY strong Austrian accent! :D )
